Though many North American bird species are experiencing drastic population declines, a lame-duck president with an approval rating of less than 30% has pushed to remove the scientific peer-review process from the Endangered Species Act, thereby allowing federal agencies to determine on their own if a project will adversely affect wildlife. According to this change, federal agencies will no longer be required to consult with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or National Marine Fisheries Service biologists.

This is such sad news. Not unexpected, really, but that our natural world is in so much trouble and that anyone, especially those with visibility and power, would disregard measures of oversite in favor of arrogance and self-interests.
The damage that boy has done to this country will take years to undo. My only surprise at this move is that he took so long to do it.
I'm a bit confused as to whether this is finalized, or still awaiting final approval?

I think it's as final as it's going to be under the current administration, but it sounds like the next administration is likely to try and overturn it. So, that's my point. Why bother!?

The good news is that the in coming President can ask congress to override or undo is nasty piece of work.
How can a "lame duck" still have the power to cause such destruction? If the dumb jerk wants to go down in flames as the worst president ever, why not opt for a good old sex or embezzelment scandal like a normal politician? Rotten dufus, anyhow.
